What is a Homestay?
A Homestay is a form of tourism that allows a visitor to rent a room from a local family to better learn the local lifestyle as well as improve their language abilities and understanding of the Ugandan culture. Hosting a homestay visitor allows the family to earn some additional and much needed income.
A homestay is a cultural exchange, while visitors pay their own expenses for room and board, the purpose of homestay is not just to provide a place to stay but to create an enriching learning experience for both the visitor and the host family.
The Mpora Rural Family Home offers a range of opportunities for its homestay visitors. You can just chill out for a week or two in typical Ugandan family home; explore and take part in the cultural visits and or activities on offer; or volunteer at the project or associated schools.
The choice is yours you will always be welcome at the Mpora Rural Family Home!
