An introduction

The Mpora Rural Family Home is a Homestay providing traditional accomodation for visitors to stay at the family home. It provides eco - tourism opportunites for vistors to the area to Explore this part of Western Uganda. This authentic  Homestay also runs a number of  community based projects which in turn provide opportunities for people who can Volunteer their time and skills.

The Mpora Rural Family Home was founded by Ugandan engineer Morence Mpora in 1987 when he realised just how needy many of the orphans and children living in his district were. Registered in 1994 as an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation), it has no political aims and is non-religious. It is overseen by a neighbourhood committee and is an example of an indigenous project managed and delivered by local people in tune with the desires, needs and culture of the community.MPORA ugandan homestay

The Mpora Rural Family Home currently sponsors 120 orphaned or vulnerable children from poor families in the area. It caters for their schooling, medical and essential needs. Many children live at the home itself. It also oversees a number of other projects with the aim of improving the lives of families living in the local community.
